Malbazar, 08th February: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista today met the grieving family of the minor girl to a heinous brutal crime. He paid tribute to the deceased minor by offering khada on her portrait and wished peace for her soul. MP Bista further expressed his support to the family of the victim in this hour of grief.
It is to recall, 17-year-old Ginni Bishwakarma of Manabari Tea Garden under Dooars’ Mal subdivision, went missing on January 25 and tragically her dead body was found on January 29 Odlabari Railway Station.
“Despite it being over 13 days since the heinous crime was discovered, the police have been unable to apprehend the main accused. It is very saddening that our daughters and sisters are not safe in a state that has been run by a woman Chief Minister for the past 11-years,” Bista stated.
Condemning the dawdling role of the administration, the MP demanded the constitution of a Special Investigations Team (SIT) to state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“An SIT is necessary to investigate this heinous crime so that a free and fair probe can be undertaken. I have told Mamata ji that, a proper investigation into this crime is necessary to ensure justice for the victim, and to also help restore people’s faith in the law,” he added.
Furthermore, the MP also clarified the allegations being charged against the Railway Police. “I want to make it clear that the Government Railway Police (GRP) is under the control of the West Bengal Government and the West Bengal Police, and that the Railway Ministry does not have any relation to the GRP or their investigations,” he said.
MP Raju Bista was accompanied by Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy, Kalchini MLA Vishal Lama, Kalyan Dewan BJP Darjeeling District, Bapi Goswami BJP President Jalpaiguri District, and other BJP leaders and workers.
