Bagdogra, 19th March: A tragic incident surfaced where an individual lost his life in an elephant attack. The deceased has been identified as Sujit Lakra (40), a resident of Merry View Tea Estate in Naxalbari.
As per details received, on Tuesday afternoon, the individual lost his life after an elephant attack while he was returning home through the forest. In this regard, the forest department speculated that the person lost his life after being attacked by an elephant when he was heading towards Merry View from Tipukhola in Bagdogra.
Upon receiving the news, the Bagdogra police and Bagdogra Elephant Squad arrived at the spot, recovered the deceased body and sent it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Following the incident, ADFO Kurseong Bhupen Biswakarma declared no permit to the forest.
