Man trampled to death by a wild tusker in Kharibari

Kharibari, 27th October: In a tragic incident, a man lost his life after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Manjay Jote area under the Buraganj Gram Panchayat of Kharibari. The deceased has been identified as Swapan Mahali (30).


According to reports, on Thursday morning, the individual was fatally attacked by a wild elephant and sustained severe injuries as a result. Later, the locals rescued him and admitted him to the Naxalbari Rural Hospital. Following this, he was transported to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) due to his critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries earlier in the morning.

Upon being informed, the Tukriajhar Forest Department personnel, Siliguri Mahakuma Forest and Land Officer Kishori Mohan Singh, Buraganj Gram Panchayat Upa-Pradhan Pankaj Barman, and other officials arrived at the spot. Meanwhile, the incident cast a shadow of mourning across the area.
