Siliguri, 21st January: Panic gripped the Netaji More area of New Jalpaiguri (NJP) after a man was found trapped inside a well.
According to sources, locals rushed to the spot after hearing cries for help from inside the well and attempted to rescue the man. When their efforts failed, the fire department was immediately informed.
On receiving the alert, a fire engine from the Siliguri Fire Department reached the scene. Police from New Jalpaiguri Police Station also arrived at the spot. With the assistance of local residents, fire personnel and police jointly carried out the rescue operation and successfully pulled the man out of the well.
How the man fell into the well is yet to be ascertained. After being rescued, he was rushed to Siliguri District Hospital for medical treatment.
According to fire and police sources, the man is currently undergoing treatment at Siliguri District Hospital. His identity is yet to be established. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
