Man lynched wife with a shovel in Jugni Danga of Rajganj

Rajganj, 27th February: In a distressing incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife with a shovel in the Jugni Danga area of the Panikauri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj. The incident led to the arrest of the accused husband Dolo Roy.


According to the information received, Kanika Roy, and her husband worked in a tea plantation. The couple was survived by two sons and a daughter while the oldest son and the daughter were married. Reportedly, the couple would frequently engage in family disputes. On Monday afternoon, a similar dispute erupted between the two when the husband allegedly hit his wife Kanika Roy on the head with a shovel.

Following this, the locals immediately rescued the severely injured Kanika and transported her to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared her dead. Meanwhile, the officials of the Rajganj police station arrived at the spot and arrested the accused husband. On Tuesday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court while the incident is under further investigation.


On the other hand, Chandan Roy, the brother of the accused Dolo Roy stated that his brother would frequently get outraged and suspect his wife. Meanwhile, Dolo Roy was undergoing treatment for his mental illness for several months. Under such circumstances, Dolo attacked his wife and killed her when nobody was present.
