Man lynched over bamboo theft allegation, dies in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 06th June: A man, identified as Mangal Tudu was lynched to death after being accused of stealing bamboo in Kamadgach, under Bidhannagar II Gram Panchayat in Phansidewa.


As per reports, bamboo from a pandal had been kept near his house. Mangal allegedly picked up the bamboo and brought it home, which led to a group of people severely assaulting him on suspicion of theft. He later died due to the injuries sustained in the attack.

Following the incident, his body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for autopsy on Friday. The deceased’s son, Swapan Tudu, has demanded strict punishment for those responsible.


Police from the Bidhannagar Investigation Center have arrested one youth in connection with the case and are continuing the investigation.
