Man found hanging after daughter’s name allegedly missing from enumeration form in Rajganj

Rajganj, 14th November: A man was found hanging from a tree near his house in Aambari under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat on Thursday night after reportedly being distressed over his daughter not receiving an enumeration form. The incident, linked to SIR-related concerns, has created shock and tension across the locality.

According to family members, Bhuvan Chandra Roy of Kamervita Booth was upset for several days because enumeration forms were issued for him, his wife and son, but not for his daughter Shivani Roy (31), who is married and lives in another block but still returns to her father’s home to cast her vote. The family claims he took the extreme step due to anxiety and distress over this issue.

After news of the tragedy spread, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, Trinamool block president Arindam Banerjee, Trinamool anchal president Tushar Kanti Dutta, and Gram Panchayat pradhan Samijuddin Ahmed reached the home to meet the family.

MLA Khageswar Roy said several such incidents linked to fear over SIR have been reported across Jalpaiguri and other parts of West Bengal. He assured the family of support and stated that Shivani’s name would be included in the voter list.
