Siliguri, 12th July: In a tragic turn of events, a man passed away due to a brain stroke shortly after learning of his son’s death by suicide. The incident occurred in the Nutanpara area under Ward No. 05 of Siliguri. The deceased son, Prasenjit Das (28) and his father Benu Das (55) were cremated together after a post-mortem examination.
According to reports, Prasenjit had committed suicide by hanging at his home on July 10. As a result, his father, Benu Das, rushed to relieve his son from the noose and immediately took him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced Prasenjit deceased.
The shock and grief of the news of his son’s tragic death had gravely impacted Benu Das as he suffered a brain stroke. Subsequently, Benu Das passed away during his treatment at the same hospital.
On Friday, Mayor Gautam Deb visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and assure them of all possible assistance. Meanwhile, the entire area is in mourning over the tragic incident.
