Siliguri, 02nd July: In a tragic accident, a man lost his life after drowning in the Balason River in Matigara. The deceased has been identified as Faziul Karim, a local resident of Mainaguri.
According to reports, three laborers, including the deceased, were assigned to work in the construction of an embankment in the Balason River adjacent to the Lenin Colony under the jurisdiction of the Matigara police station. Meanwhile, the deceased lost his balance and fell into the river. Subsequently, his companions tried to save him but failed.
On receiving the information, the Matigara police immediately arrived at the spot and recovered the body. The corpse was then transported to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for autopsy. Subsequently, the police initiated the investigation of the entire incident.
