Naxalbari, 27th January: A tragic incident surfaced where an individual lost his life after drowning in a pond during a picnic in the Jabra Tea Estate area in Naxalbari. The deceased has been identified as Ratti Gwala, a resident of Zamindarguri of Hatighisa.
As per details received, on Friday, on the occasion of Republic Day, a huge crowd of people gathered for picnics in the Jabra Tea Estate area of Naxalbari. During this time, the individual drowned in the pond.
Eyewitnesses revealed that upon hearing the screams of the individual, several people rushed for rescue, however, he was untraced. Immediately, the matter was informed to the police.
Upon receiving the news, the cops of Naxalbari police station arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. Later, on Saturday morning, the Disaster Management team arrived at the spot, recovered the deceased body, and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. Currently, the police are engaged in further investigation.
