Siliguri, 02nd September: Sensation prevailed after a man was crushed to death under the wheels of a sand-laden truck at the Ganganagar More area near Siliguri Burdwan Road. The critically injured man was rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Balaram Mishra.
Reportedly, the tragic incident occurred when the said truck was heading towards Burdwan Road from the Ganganagar area, this morning. The vehicle lost control and crushed Balaram who was standing at the roadside. The man sustained severe injuries in both legs, following which he was immediately rushed to NBMCH.
On the other hand, the truck also rammed into a scooty and a bicycle. The scooty was completely damaged in the incident.
A person has been detained in the incident and taken to Khalpara outpost. Following this, the Siliguri police and Khalpara outpost police reached the spot and seized the truck.
District Trinamool President Ranjan Sarkar and Ward Co-ordinator Durga Singh reached the spot and assured the deceased’s family members to provide them with all necessary measures. He further asserted to look into the matter to prevent heavy vehicles from moving in crowded areas.
