Siliguri, 08th February: In a shocking incident in Siliguri, a man identified as Sri Krishna Mahanto has been arrested for the murder of his mentally challenged mother, Manju Mahanto. In a court hearing on Saturday, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he murdered his mother due to her mental health condition and the absence of caregivers to tend to her needs.
The incident occurred in the Durga Das Colony in Ward 20 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The accused, Sri Krishna Mahanto, confessed to the crime during his trial at Siliguri Court.
Local residents of the area claimed that Sri Krishna had a history of abusing his mother and had repeatedly tried to get her to transfer the property to his name. However, when his attempts failed, he resorted to murder. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
