Siliguri, 08th May: Tension erupted in the Subhash Nagar area of Ward No. 40, Siliguri, after a man was caught red-handed attempting to film a woman while she was bathing. The accused, identified as Nitish Barman (38), a tenant in the area, was apprehended by local residents on Community Road.
According to reports, the woman realized someone was trying to secretly record her and began screaming. Locals rushed to the scene and caught the accused in the act.
Outraged by the incident, local women assaulted the man and made him do sit-ups while holding his ears as a form of public punishment. He was later handed over to Bhakti Nagar police station.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
