Siliguri, 29th December: Babu Hajra, has been accused of thrashing and abusing his elderly mother for the property. The incident surfaced from Siliguri Ward No. 24 Debashish Colony area.
The elderly mother, Tulsi Hajra, lost her ailing husband a few months ago. Since then, their eldest son Babu Hajra and his wife, son, and daughter started pestering her for property and house. Despite seeking help from the Siliguri police, Tulsi Hajra was left to her misery.
During one such episode on Monday, the local women came forward to save Tulsi Hajra from the brutality but instead was threatened to be charged with false cases by Babu Hajra. Following this, the locals handed over a memorandum to the Siliguri police yesterday. Meanwhile, Babu Hazra and his wife are missing from home since Tuesday morning.
The victim claimed that after the death of her husband, she wanted to distribute the land and property among her four sons and daughters. But her eldest son Babu Hazra is not happy with her decision and wishes to keep the entire property to himself.
