Siliguri, 18th March: In a distressing incident, the officials have apprehended an individual for attempting to sexually assault a minor in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Shankar Pal (48), a resident of Gouranga Pally under Ward No. 40 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
As per details received, on March 16, the accused Shankar spotted the 13-year-old girl alone at her residence and attempted to sexually assault her. However, the minor managed to escape from the scene.
Later, after the family members returned, the minor revealed the entire incident. Promptly, the family members lodged a written complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station.
Meanwhile, based on the complaint, the Bhakti Nagar police arrested the accused Shankar from his house on Sunday. The accused was produced before Jalpaiguri Court for legal proceedings on Monday.
