Siliguri, 17th November: Matigara Police have arrested an accused who had been absconding in a case involving the rape of a differently-abled woman. The arrested individual has been identified as Bajendra Nath Barman.
According to sources, on 22nd September, a differently-abled woman filed a written complaint at Matigara Police Station alleging rape. Following the complaint, police began an investigation, during which the accused went into hiding.
Nearly two months after the incident, police arrested him on Sunday night from the Jyotirmoy Colony area based on a tip-off. On Monday, Matigara Police produced the accused before the Siliguri court.
Police are continuing to investigate the entire matter.
