Man arrested in Siliguri for selling fake SIM cards

Siliguri, 01st March: The Cyber Crime Police Station team of Siliguri Metropolitan Police has arrested a man for selling fake SIM cards. The accused has been identified as Biplab Mallick, a resident of Dasrath Pally area.


According to police sources, Mallick owns a mobile phone shop in Dasrath Pally, where he also sells SIM cards. The arrest followed a complaint lodged at Matigara Police Station by a woman, who alleged that her documents were misused to issue fake SIM cards, leading to criminal activities.

Upon investigation, the Cyber Crime team traced the fraudulent SIM card back to Mallick’s shop and took him into custody. The accused is currently being held at Matigara Police Station and will be produced before the Siliguri court on Sunday.


Cyber crime officials have cautioned that criminals often use fake SIM cards for cyber fraud and other illegal activities. They suspect the presence of an organized gang in Siliguri and are now working to uncover its network with the help of the arrested accused.
