Man arrested in Siliguri for alleged involvement in fake voter ID card racket

Siliguri, 25th November: A man was arrested by Delhi police in Siliguri for allegedly creating fake voter identity cards. The arrested individual has been identified as Jayanta Barman.


Sources revealed that an individual named Khokan Barua from Bangladesh was arrested at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport with a fake voter ID card in his possession. During the investigation, Delhi police traced the origin of the fake voter ID card to Siliguri.

Following this, a team from Delhi Police travelled to Siliguri. In a joint operation with the Bhakti Nagar police, they arrested Jayanta Barman from the ISKCON Temple Road area in connection with the case.


On Monday, Jayanta Barman was produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court. Delhi police will take him on a five-day transit remand and transport him to Delhi for further investigation. Authorities are continuing their probe into the broader network involved in the illegal production of voter identity cards.
