Jalpaiguri, 16th October: A man was arrested from Ashrampara in Jalpaiguri on allegations of running a cannabis trade from within the city. The accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday.
According to police sources, around 23 kg of cannabis and ₹24 lakh in cash were recovered from his house. The arrested man has been identified as Bappaditya Singh.
Police claimed that information received through the national helpline number 1933 has been helping them achieve successive breakthroughs in such cases. In the past six days, Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station has recovered a total of ₹34 lakh, police said.
Police are investigating the case to identify others allegedly involved in the cannabis trade.
