Siliguri, 11th August: In a disturbing incident, a person has been apprehended on allegations of sexually assaulting a mentally unstable homeless woman. This harrowing event unfolded at Naradeva Jote, located within the jurisdiction of Jalas Nizamtara area in Phansidewa.
The individual in custody has been identified as Bhavananda Singh, a resident of the Naradeva Jote locality. According to the information, on Thursday, local women took action upon hearing cries coming from Bhavananda’s residence. Upon investigation, they found the victim woman, in a state of undress. Following this, the locals lodged a written complaint with the Phansidewa police station.
Responding swiftly to the complaint, law enforcement authorities arrived at the scene without delay and apprehended the accused. Outraged by the incident, community members are demanding stringent punishment for the individual responsible.
Following his arrest, Bhavananda was brought before the Siliguri Divisional Court today to face legal proceedings. Simultaneously, the victim has been sent to a shelter home for a thorough medical examination to ascertain her well-being and gather evidence for the case.
