Siliguri, 28th November: A man has been arrested on the charges of murdering his wife. The deceased has been identified as Mukta Khatun.
It has been learned that Mukta Khatun, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Ward no-04, Siliguri, tied the knot to Munna Khan, a resident of Joydev Vita, Jatiyakali, three years ago. They also have a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
The deceased’s family alleged that Munna Khan and the in-laws had been abusing their daughter since the marriage. On Saturday night, the in-laws called and informed them that their daughter fell sick and was being treated at a private hospital in Fulbari. They rushed to the hospital and were shocked to see her dead body which had severe injury marks. This raised suspicion, following which, they accused the in-laws of killing their daughter.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s father Gulzar Hossain lodged a murder complaint against the in-laws at the NJP police station. Munna Khan was arrested last night on the basis of the allegation.
Mukta’s family members went to the NJP police station on Sunday and demanded severe punishment for the culprits.
