Naxalbari, 10th January: A man has been arrested for strangling his wife to death, on Sunday night. The incident surfaced from the South Rathkhola area of Naxalbari. The deceased has been identified as Saraswati Roy.
Reportedly, Shyamal Roy and Saraswati Roy tied the knot, 5 years ago, following which, Saraswati was allegedly subjected to mental and physical abuse by her husband and in-laws.
Meanwhile, the Naxalbari police reached the spot after receiving the news. The accused husband was arrested and his family members were detained by the police.
The body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy on Monday. Family members of the victim demanded severe punishment for the culprit.
