Siliguri, 20th July: The Bhaktinagar police arrested a miscreant, identified as Mohammad Adhas, for snatching a gold chain from an ill person near Jhankar More in Goalapatti, Siliguri. The incident occurred when the victim, a resident of Pranami Mandir Road under the jurisdiction of the Bhaktinagar police station, fell ill while walking along ISKCON Mandir Road on July 17.
According to reports, the victim suddenly felt unwell and collapsed near the roadside. Seizing the opportunity, the culprit forcibly removed a gold chain from the victim’s neck and fled the scene. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim noticed that his chain was missing.
Subsequently, a formal complaint was lodged at Bhaktinagar police station, leading to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of Mohammad Adhas. Police recovered 20 grams of gold from the accused. On Saturday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri Court while the police continue their investigation into the incident.
