Man arrested for mother-in-law’s murder in Jalpaiguri; police recover missing body part and weapon

Jalpaiguri, 03rd April: Jalpaiguri Kotwali police recovered a missing body part of an elderly woman along with the weapon used in the crime, five days after her body was found. The accused, her son-in-law Alamin Haque, has been arrested.


The incident came to light last Saturday when the headless body of Samija Khatun was recovered from Banijyer Hat area under Bahadur Gram Panchayat in Jalpaiguri.

Police launched an investigation and arrested the victim’s son-in-law. He was produced in court and taken into remand for questioning.


During interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder and revealed the location where he had hidden the missing body part and the weapon. Acting on his statement, police carried out a search operation and recovered both.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
