Siliguri, 26th December: A man was arrested by NJP police for allegedly defrauding a person in a land deal in Thakur Nagar, near Siliguri. The accused has been identified as Kalipada Roy.
It is reported that about a year ago, a person named Bablu Saha purchased four and a half bighas of land from Kalipada Roy and paid the full amount. Despite repeated requests over a long period, Kalipada Roy did not provide the land registry documents. Frustrated by the unresolved issue, Bablu Saha filed a complaint of fraud against Kalipada Roy at the NJP police station.
Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation. After a prolonged search for the accused, Kalipada Roy was finally arrested from his residence in Thakur Nagar on Thursday. He was presented before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday.
