Siliguri, 23rd June: An unsettling incident unfolded in the Tikiapara of Siliguri’s ward number 28, where an uncle, identified as MD Noor Alam, attacked his nephew, MD Azad, with scissors over a prolonged monetary dispute. The nephew, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at the Siliguri District Hospital.
According to sources, the altercation stemmed from an ongoing disagreement between the two relatives over a sum of money. This had been a frequent cause of turmoil in the family, leading to the recent violent brawl. Reportedly, Noor Alam allegedly wounded his nephew with a pair of scissors. Local residents quickly rushed the injured Azad to the hospital while Noor Alam fled the scene.
The officials of the Siliguri police station apprehended Noor Alam within hours of the incident. Meanwhile, Azad’s father expressed that disputes over money were frequent between his son and brother-in-law. He also mentioned that Noor Alam was a drug addict and had previously stolen Rs 70,000, leading to frequent altercations.
Noor Alam, however, alleged that the money was actually stolen by his nephew. He claimed that when he confronted Azad to retrieve the stolen money, his nephew attacked him first, prompting him to act in self-defense. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
