Rajganj, 09th March: An unusual incident has surfaced in Rajganj of Jalpaiguri district, where a man and his elderly mother have allegedly left their home due to harassment by the wife.
The incident has created a stir in the Dundi Para area under Sukhani Gram Panchayat of Rajganj block. According to local sources, Sairul Haque, a resident of the area, was living with his mother. He got married in 2023, but it is alleged that soon after the marriage his wife began subjecting both him and his elderly mother to mental and physical harassment.
The issue reportedly led to multiple mediation meetings in the area. Efforts were made by the local panchayat to resolve the dispute, but no permanent solution could be reached.
Sairul Haque has also alleged that his wife threatened to kill him and even planned to poison him. Fearing for his life, he has now left his home and lodged a written complaint against his wife at Rajganj Police Station.
Attempts were made to contact the accused wife for her reaction, but no response was received.
Sukhani Gram Panchayat Pradhan Parimal Roy said that after receiving the written complaint from Sairul Haque, several meetings were held to resolve the issue, but the matter is yet to be settled.
Based on the complaint, police of Rajganj Police Station have started an investigation into the incident.
