Kharibari, 26th July: In a recent development, an individual identified as Jagdish Roy, a folk artist, accused of raping a ninth-grade school girl, was found dead, hanging from a noose at the Chakkarmari crematorium in Kharibari on Friday. The tragic discovery came after serious allegations were made against him.
According to reports, Roy allegedly raped the school girl under the pretense of securing her a job, resulting in her pregnancy. The victim later disclosed the incident to her family, prompting her father to file a complaint at the Kharibari police station on Thursday. Following the complaint, police initiated an investigation into the matter.
On Friday morning, Roy’s body was discovered hanging at the Chakkarmari crematorium. Police responded promptly, recovering the body and sending it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. The Kharibari police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
