Malda, 21st February: A woman has been allegedly poisoned to death by her in-laws in the Nandalalpur village of the Vaishnav Nagar Police station. The deceased has been identified as Jyotsna Mandal (29). Meanwhile, the accused in-laws have been absconding since the incident.
Jyotsna’s father, Sharat Mandal, stated that his daughter was married to Vikram Mandal, a resident of the Nandalalpur village, 15 years ago. Vikram works as a laborer in another state. It has been alleged that Jyotsna was always tortured for dowry and when Jyotsna refused to comply, she was poisoned to death by her in-laws.
In this regard, the family members of the deceased have filed a written complaint at the Vaishnav Nagar Police station. Based on the complaint, the Vaishnav Nagar Police are currently investigating the incident.
