Malda, 23rd August: Sensation prevailed after the body of a man, identified as Toton Roy, was found hanging from a noose in his in-laws’ house at the Gobindapur village in Nurpur Anchal under Malda’s Manikchak police station. The deceased was reportedly a resident of the Pirganj area under the Pukuria Police station.
According to family sources, Toton Roy married his lover Lali Sarkar, a resident of the Gobindapur area, around two years ago. Meanwhile, tension over their marriage had been hovering as Toton’s father disapproved of their relationship. To avoid any conflict, Toton, along with his wife, was living at his in-laws’ house in Gobindapur for the past two months.
The deceased’s wife stated that Toton had an argument with his father over the phone on Saturday. He was found hanging from the noose that very night.
Upon receiving the news, the Manikchak police recovered the body and sent it to the Malda Medical College-Hospital for an autopsy on Sunday. The police are investigating the matter.
