Jalpaiguri, 13th February: In a significant move to curb the spread of rabies, the district administration has set a target to vaccinate 1,400 stray dogs with anti-rabies vaccines across Jalpaiguri district.
According to official sources, the Animal Resources Development Department has launched a special vaccination campaign aimed at bringing street dogs under systematic immunisation coverage to prevent rabies transmission.
The programme was formally inaugurated on Friday in Jalpaiguri town, where nearly 300 stray dogs were administered the anti-rabies vaccine on the first day of the drive.
Officials stated that the campaign will be implemented in phases across different blocks of the district in the coming days. The initiative seeks to reduce the risk of rabies infection and ensure the safety of both residents and animals.
