Major crime bid foiled in Siliguri, four miscreants arrested by Pradhan Nagar police

Siliguri, 20th January: Plainclothes police personnel of Pradhan Nagar Police Station foiled a major crime in Siliguri by arresting four miscreants before they could carry out the offence.


According to police sources, on Monday night, a gang of around 10 to 12 persons was allegedly preparing to commit a criminal act at a deserted location near BRI Colony adjacent to the Siliguri Junction area. During routine patrolling, police noticed the suspicious gathering and moved in to intervene.

Sensing police presence, several members of the gang fled the spot, while four miscreants were apprehended by the police. The arrested accused have been identified as Tanish Rai (29), Prakash Dorji (35), Suraj Khati (33) and Dilip Biswakarma (44).


Police sources stated that Tanish Rai is a resident of Kalimpong, while the other three accused are residents of Siliguri. All four were produced before the Siliguri court on Tuesday.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects and to determine the exact nature of the planned crime.
