Madhyamik examination begins in Siliguri under tight security arrangements

Siliguri, 02nd February: The Madhyamik (secondary) examination commenced across West Bengal on Monday, with the process beginning peacefully at various examination centres in Siliguri. Candidates appeared for the examination from the morning in strict adherence to the prescribed guidelines.

Police personnel were deployed at all examination centres to maintain law and order. To ensure that candidates faced no difficulty in reaching their centres, traffic police were on duty from 8:00 am at multiple traffic points across the city. In several cases, traffic police assisted candidates who had mistakenly reached incorrect examination centres and guided them to the correct venues.

On the first day of the examination, a large number of guardians were seen waiting outside the centres. Instruction notices issued by the board were displayed outside the examination venues. Darjeeling district Madhyamik board convenor Suprakash Roy said the administration was extending full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the examinations.

This year, a total of 17,499 candidates are appearing for the Madhyamik examination in Darjeeling district. Of them, 7,510 are boys, while the number of girl candidates is close to 10,000.

Police officials also visited several examination centres to encourage students. As part of the initiative, chocolates and pens were distributed to candidates to boost their morale.
