Naxalbari, 30th November: A tragic accident occurred on the Asian Highway 2 in Naxalbari when a lorry standing in a traffic jam was hit from behind by another lorry, leading to the death of the front lorry’s driver.
The incident took place in the Rathkhola More area, spreading shock among locals. The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Yadav, a resident of Bihar.
According to reports, the traffic jam was caused by a mechanical fault in a truck stuck in Panitanki of Kharibari, which resulted in a long queue of vehicles. While vehicles were stationary, another lorry collided with the lorry in front.
In the collision, the driver of the stationary lorry fell onto the road and was crushed under the wheels of the rear lorry, leading to his death on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, Naxalbari police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Initial police investigations suggest the accident occurred due to driver fatigue early in the morning.
