Siliguri, 25th May: After the State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that all the markets in the state will be allowed to resume operations from March 21, several markets in Siliguri reopened a few days ago following the instructions. However, the Siliguri Hong Kong market, which was closed until yesterday, resumed operations from Monday morning.
The traders of the Hong Kong market, on Monday, stated that the market is like a tourist spot in Siliguri. However, this year because of the pandemic, the tourism sector has been hit hard. ‘We only hope that the situation normalizes soon and the market starts running smoothly as earlier’, they added.
Besides, people will be thermally screened before being allowed to enter the market and must use hand sanitizers. Strict surveillance will be kept by the traders to ensure that social distance is being maintained.
