Rajganj, 18th July: After the transfer of Belakoba Range Officer Sanjoy Dutta was announced, the locals expressed displeasure over the decision and staged demonstrations at the Range Office, on Saturday.
It is to be noted that the members of the Joint Forest Management Committee, on Friday, visited the range office and extended their support to the ranger.
The protesters stated that Ranger Sanjay Dutta is an honest and loyal office and has given a huge contribution to the protection of forests and forest resources. Besides, they claimed that Dutta also stood by the needy people in their times of difficulty.
They further stated that the forest officials conducted the raid as per the laws and the Ranger being transferred for it is ‘unethical’. The protesters also threatened to commit suicide if the transfer is not withdrawn soon.
