Siliguri, 09th July: Locals protested by planting paddy saplings on the slushy dilapidated roads and blocked the Asian Highway demanding repair of the road from Kawakhali adjacent to North Bengal Medical College to Durga Mandir.
The locals said that although road repair work started in 2018, it stopped later. Contacting all levels of administration did not solve the problem. Tired of the poor roads, the locals, on Friday, protested by planting paddy saplings on the road and blocking the highway.
The Matigara police reached the spot and assured the protesters to look into the matter. After which the locals lifted the road blockade. The protest lasted for about 30 minutes.
