Siliguri, 23rd November: Pradhan Nagar Police, in plain clothes, busted a liquor smuggling operation in Siliguri where illegal alcohol was being transported using broom bundles. One accused, identified as Upendra Prasad of Devidanga, has been arrested.
According to police sources, officers detained broom-seller Upendra Prasad near the petrol pump adjacent to Siliguri Junction on Sunday based on suspicion.
During a detailed search of his broom bundles, police recovered 36 bottles of liquor.
Investigations revealed that the accused, who works as a broom seller, had planned to smuggle liquor from Bengal to Bihar. Pradhan Nagar Police will present him before the Siliguri court on Monday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
