Liquor party in ‘Disabled Coach’ of train: Siliguri youth allegedly threatened for protesting

Siliguri, 25th May: Arunabha Pal Choudhary, a resident of Hakim Para in Siliguri, allegedly faced distressing circumstances while traveling from Kolkata to Siliguri by train, despite being specially-abled.

Reports indicate that on Friday night, Arunabha boarded the Darjeeling Mail train from Sealdah. Allegedly, some individuals posing as GRP personnel were on board the train. As night fell, the train compartment turned into a liquor party. When Arunabha protested, he was allegedly threatened. It is claimed that his seat was occupied, and his belongings were forcibly removed.

Upon reaching New Jalpaiguri railway station on Saturday morning, some individuals disembarked from the coach. However, when questioned, they reportedly snatched a camera and fled, refusing to disclose their identities.

Meanwhile, some individuals defended their presence in the disabled coach, stating that overcrowding led them to enter that compartment despite holding general tickets. They hastily left the scene without revealing personal details.

Significantly, Arunabha attempted to lodge a written complaint with RPF and GRP officials upon arrival but was allegedly denied. Other passengers aboard the train condemned the incident, raising concerns about passenger safety.

Arunabha Pal Choudhary expressed frustration, stating that many individuals boarded the disabled coach without valid tickets, leaving him without a seat and facing threats of violence.
