Siliguri, 28th June: The Lions Club Siliguri Terai has already been well known for its services rendered, in reaching out, to the needy sections of society. Its signature project “Siliguri Terai Lions Blood Bank” one of the best Blood Bank in Eastern India.
Continuing its services in the health sector, the Lions Club Siliguri Terai inaugurated its renovated Godiyamath Health centre today and launched “Terai Shishu Suraksh” programme.
The “Terai Shishu Suraksha” programme is a unique Child immunization programme for the benefit of children of weaker section of the society i.e. BPL category. Children below 6 months of age can be enrolled in the scheme. The child will be immunized Free of Cost, from birth to 15 years of age, with all necessary vaccines.
In this context, club’s Health Committee Chairman Lion Manish Kumar Agarwal said, “Due to limited resources available to children, the parents of the weaker section in the society cannot afford to vaccinate their child with various vaccines which are chargeable. Therefore these children are deprived of such chargeable vaccines.”
Club President Lion Sanjay Mitruka also informed that the club shall sponsor a minimum of 101 members every year under the Terai Shishu Suraksha programme. The renovated Goudiyamath Health Center was also inaugurated by Indra Devi Mitruka.
Members of the club’s Health Committee including Lion Kamal Kundalia, Lion Girish Kundalia, Lion Kamlesh Gilra, Yogesh Goyal and Lion Ritesh Mandhyani updated about the changes made during the renovation. This included a special play zone area, swings and slide, height measurement facility, spacious seating arrangements to make a child-friendly environment for the children at the center.
