Rajganj, 31st October: Water is being wasted for many years due to leakage of drinking water supply pipe in Fulbari. Dabgram Fulbari MLA Shikha Chatterjee inspected the spot on Sunday.
It has been learned that the water of the Teesta Irrigation Drain is purified and supplied to Siliguri. However, the leakage in drinking water pipeline at Fulbari bypass more resulted in loss of water for many years.
Shikha Chatterjee said that drinking water is supplied from Fulbari to Siliguri. However, there is a shortage of water as compared to the demand. He alleged that despite informing the local administration and PHE department about the matter, no appropriate measures were taken. “I will once again inform the PHE department. If it still does not work, I will raise the issue in the assembly. If necessary, we will join the movement.”, he added.
