Siliguri, 23rd November: A horrific late-night accident in Siliguri claimed the lives of three West Sikkim residents who were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.
The deceased have been identified as Brij Mohan Prasad (66), Arun Kumar Gupta (48) and Raj Kumar Gupta (51).
Reportedly, the accident took place near 8th Mile, ahead of Bengal Safari, when a speeding goods truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with their car. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was left completely crushed, leaving all three critically injured.
Bhakti Nagar Police reached the spot shortly after receiving information and rescued the victims from the mangled vehicle. They were rushed to a private hospital on Sevoke Road, where doctors declared all three dead.
On Sunday morning, Siliguri Metropolitan Police DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed visited the accident site for inspection. Police have seized both the truck and the damaged car, and a detailed investigation is underway.
