Jalpaiguri, 28th June: A late-night attempt to rob an ATM near the BSF camp in Raninagar, Jalpaiguri, was foiled by police in the early hours of Friday. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
According to reports, around 2:30 am, the SBI Control Room in Mumbai alerted the Jalpaiguri District Control Room about a suspected break-in at the Raninagar branch ATM. In response, officers from Kotwali Police Station’s night patrol team were immediately dispatched to the location.
Before the police arrived, the suspects attempted to flee. However, both were apprehended on the spot. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pathik Sarkar (25) and Kaushik Mukherjee (24), both residents of the Raninagar area.
Police recovered a motorcycle and a small LPG gas cylinder from the scene. Although the suspects tried to breach the ATM vault, they were unsuccessful.
A case has been registered, and both accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Saturday. Further investigation is underway.
