Darjeeling, 28th July: Following a heavy downpour since last night, several parts of the hills were hit by a severe landslide. Due to this, the roads and other means of communication have been disrupted. Several areas of Mirik and Panighata have also been badly affected.
The administration took stock of the situation early morning. However, it will take some time for the communication system to return to normalcy. With no other choice left, the residents were spotted passing through the affected route, putting their lives at risk.
Reportedly, the road from Mirik to Siliguri was also blocked due to landslides. However, only a few vehicles were spotted plying due to the ongoing lockdown.
