Land mafia accused of demolishing boundary wall in Hatighisa, Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 31st May: Tension erupted in Hatighisa, Naxalbari, following allegations of land mafia violence. Local landowners have accused the land mafia of illegally demolishing the boundary wall of private property in Maha Singh Mouza.

According to reports, Ramel Oraon, Rekha Oraon, and Subhash Oraon had purchased land from Nilmani Tirki a year ago. With proper government documents, the trio had constructed a boundary wall around their property. However, it is alleged that several local land mafias used earth movers to forcibly break the wall.

All three landowners have lodged individual complaints at Naxalbari police station. Ramel Oraon, a tea garden worker, stated that the land was purchased lawfully and has no links to the land mafia. He expressed distress over the destruction of his legally acquired land.

Meanwhile, Nilmani Tirki, the previous owner of the land, confirmed the sale and claimed the land mafia has been issuing threats. He urged the administration to intervene and ensure justice for the victims.
