Kurseong honours martyred Captain Brijesh Thapa with military tributes and public homage

Kurseong, 18th July: On Thursday, Kurseong came together in solemn remembrance as the mortal remains of Captain Brijesh Thapa, a brave son of Gorkha who sacrificed his life for the nation, were brought to the town with military tribute. Subsequently, the final rites of martyr Brijesh Thapa were conducted in Darjeeling’s Lebong


The procession, commencing from Siliguri and traveling via Rohini Road, reached Kurseong at 11 am amidst heartfelt chants echoing through the air. Upon arrival, various organizations including Kurseong municipality, ex-servicemen’s groups, members of parliament, and the local community gathered to pay their respects. The parents of the martyred Captain, Retired Colonel Bhuvanesh Kumar Thapa, and his mother, were consoled by officials of the ex-servicemen organization.

Chairman Brigen Gurung of Kurseong Municipality, Vice Chairman Subas Pradhan, Members of Parliament, and representatives from ex-servicemen organizations and cultural institutions were among those present to honour Captain Bridges Thapa’s legacy.


Speaking on the occasion, Major DK Gurung, Chairman of the ex-servicemen organization in Kurseong, along with retired Major DK Gurung, Pranita Ghising, Secretary of Gorkha Sanskriti Sansthan Kurseong, and Phurba Ghising, Vice President of Kurseong Gorkha Hill Sports Association, expressed profound gratitude and shared memories of Captain Bridgesh Thapa’s bravery and commitment to the nation.
