Rajganj, 03rd December The Kamtapur State Demand Council (KSDC) has launched a 100-hour hunger strike in front of the Rajganj BDO office demanding multiple rights and recognitions.
The protest, held on Wednesday across various parts of North Bengal including Rajganj, seeks the formation of a separate Kamtapur or Greater Cooch Behar state within India’s constitutional framework.
The council is also demanding Scheduled Tribe status for the Koch-Rajbongshi community residing in Assam, North Bengal, and Bihar, as well as constitutional recognition of the Kamtapuri (Rajbongshi) language.
Mohammad Hasibul, a member of the organization, warned that if these demands are not met, the council will be compelled to launch a larger movement.
