Krishna Kumari Rai resigns as MLA from 11-Namchi-Singithang Assembly Constituency

Sikkim, 13th June: Krishna Kumari Rai, the spouse of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, has resigned from her position as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the 11-Namchi-Singithang Constituency, just a day after being sworn in as a legislator. The Speaker of the Sikkim State Legislative Assembly, MN Sherpa, has accepted her resignation, resulting in the Namchi-Singithang Constituency now being vacant.


The constituency will undergo a by-election to fill the vacancy, although the date for this election has not yet been announced. Krishna Kumari Rai had previously won the constituency with a total of 7,907 votes, defeating SDF’s Bimal Rai, who garnered 2,605 votes, by a margin of 5,302 votes.
