Kolkata Court rejects bail plea of Partha Chatterjee

A special Kolkata Court rejected the bail plea of former West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the school recruitment scam case.

The former Minister’s lawyer had submitted a bail plea citing his cooperation with the central investigating agency and being in custody for over a year. However, the ED opposed the plea, arguing that granting bail at this stage would hinder the ongoing investigation. The Judge of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court considered both submissions and rejected the plea.
