Khudra Vyabsayee Mahila Brinda demands extension of moratorium on loan repayments

Siliguri, 08th October: The Khudra Vyabsayee Mahila Brinda raised voices with a demand extension of the moratorium on microfinance loan repayments as well as the waiver of interest.

On Thursday, the organization staged a sit-in protest at the Siliguri SDO office and later handed over a memorandum to the SDO.

Shankar Ghosh, co-ordinator of Ward No. 24, said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several traders are deprived of work and hence have taken micro-finance loans. However, as soon as the unlock period started, these companies are putting pressure on customers to repay the loans.

Therefore, a protest was staged today demanding a waiver of interest and extension of time.
